After completing my last album, Pay My Rent, I needed to get out of Philadelphia and restore my creativity. I found myself living and working on a farm in the middle of Nebraska for the summer. Being away from everyone I knew and returning a place similar to my childhood reconnected me with my upbringing and forced me to be completely honest with my writing. I set up a studio in a shed and got to work, inspired by country radio, blue-collar men and the vastness of the landscape. The three songs on this EP — experiments in a style I like to call “Deep Cowboy Pop” — are more rhythmic, openly sexual and lushly produced than anything I’ve made before.
